New Orleans Outreach, a nonprofit community organization dedicated to improving the quality of public education by linking volunteers and community resources with students and schools, has single-handedly impacted the quality of public education in
The results speak for themselves:
- Students who participated in New Orleans Outreach programming averaged fewer than half as many unexcused school absences than those students who did not take part in Outreach’s programs.
- Students who participated more than 60 days in New Orleans Outreach Academic and Cultural Enrichment afterschool programming scored 24 points higher on English and language arts standardized tests and 27 points higher on standardized math tests than those students who did not participate in Outreach programs.
- New Orleans Outreach volunteers and paid partners put in more than 60,000 hours to help more than 2,000 students succeed in remedial reading and math, arts enrichment, career programming, afterschool academic and cultural activities, summer programming and more.
