The Children of New Orleans Still Need Our Help
It’s been more than two years since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the surrounding Gulf Coast, but the needs of children there are still great. Many children still cannot return to school, nor do they live within walking distance of a working park or playground. There are not enough child care facilities available to parents who want to return to the city. Many homes remain empty as families wait to see if their neighborhood will come back.
The future isn’t bleak, however. Rebuilding efforts are well underway in New Orleans, led by dedicated, caring and hardworking individuals who love their city and its children. They are working on their own or as part of deserving and effective organizations that – often with limited resources – are making a major difference in the lives of children. All they need to complete the job is financial resources.
Working Together, We Can Make a Difference
Operation Kids and the Brees Dream Foundation, founded by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany, are partnering to “Rebuild Dreams in New Orleans.” We are working with several New Orleans organizations to fund and rebuild classroom facilities, athletic facilities, parks and playgrounds, after-school programs, mentoring programs for the intellectually disabled, neighborhood revitalization projects and child care facilities.
