Imagine leaving home at the age of 18 with little or no family support, few resources and minimal skills. Imagine the challenges and uncertainties you would face as you tried to navigate adult life on your own. Every year this is a reality for thousands of youth.
Every year more than 24,000 youth age out of foster care. These youths face serious challenges and many of them have no family or support network to help them. Without our help many of them are returning to abusive situations or ending up homeless. We can make a difference. Each Christmas Box Lifestart Kit is designed to provide these youths with the resources they need to succeed.
Since its inception in 1999, Operation Kids has raised, managed and dispersed more than $9 million to more than 85 effective children's charities in 50 states and 25 countries. Lives have been changed through your donations! Some examples include:
Even before the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, the educational system in New Orleans struggled. As the city has fought to come back to life, one organization has provided critical education support to New Orleans schools.
