Operation Kids Joins Collin Raye to Help Sick Children
Jun 23, 2009
For the last six years Collin Raye has seen first-hand the incredible emotional, physical and financial challenges of a seriously ill child as he has dealt with the unnamed, degenerative neurological illness that his 8-year-old granddaughter, Haley, and her family face daily. In response to Haley's illness, Collin penned "She's With Me," a song included on his newest album, Never Going Back, released April 28.
Collin writes:
She's With Me" is a tribute to my granddaughter, Haley, very, very special - and very ill with a neurological condition that no one's been able to diagnose, and it's regressive ... for six years, I've been having this in my heart. It's very hard to write about things like this, because nothing is ever good enough for her, and it's hard to put into words how you feel.
The idea of "She's With Me" struck me about a year or so ago. Thinking in this life she can't do anything for herself. She comes and goes because she's with me, and then I related it to the after life thinking, well, if I'm lucky enough to ever be standing in front of the Lord or St. Peter ... maybe, she'll be standing there and say, "Well, it's okay, because he's with me."
Because he is intimately familiar with the challenges facing parents of children with extraordinary medical conditions and expenses, Collin has teamed up with Operation Kids for a special fundraiser for these families.
Now through Mother's Day, Collin is offering a free MP3 of "She's With Me" to anyone who donates $5 or more to Operation Kids. The donations will be used to help the families of children facing extraordinary illnesses and expenses.
