R. Steven Farrell
Steve Farrell is founder and managing director of Presidium Partners. Prior to Presidium, he served as president and CEO of Alpine Capital Management. Steve has extensive background in traditional equity and fixed-income management, asset allocation, risk management, proprietary trading, options, derivatives, tax strategies, estate and wealth transfer planning and alternative investment strategies -- hedge funds, venture capital, private equity, LBO funds and real estate.
Steve began his career in 1987 working for the Securities Services Group of Bankers Trust in New York where he launched a mutual funds custody unit and directed its growth from $600 million to $3 billion in assets. He also managed two operations in international custody and tax-exempt municipal bonds. Steve then joined the Industrial Bank of Japan where he established the Japan Trust Group and led the firm’s efforts in replacing their global custody and trust system. In 1994, he joined Montgomery Securities in San Francisco where he built a high net-worth business managing $300 million in equity and fixed-income assets for private individuals and institutions.
In 1997, Steve moved to Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) where he was instrumental in building a high net-worth business overseeing $1 billion in assets. He also served as a senior partner of a private client services team for Credit Suisse First Boston when they acquired DLJ.
Steve earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude and with university honors from Brigham Young University, and an MBA from The Harvard Business School.
